A few weeks ago, my friend Petey was going to take a few of his buddies out for steaks to celebrate passing his pharm tech exam. One of his buddies, Han, is dating my friend, Hyo. He wanted Hyo to go, too, but she couldn't be the only girl, so Han, who happens to be quite tight with me, asked me to come and be company for Hyo. He even offered to pay.

And that was, like, the best night of my life.

I was the only one who'd ever been to Ruth's Chris, but I didn't want to hype it up for them so I just said that I remembered it being good; after all, it had been three years since I'd been and I'd only been once myself. I tried to act nonchalant.

I needn't have worried. Man, oh, man, I've never had a better steak!!

I got the Petite Filet Mignon with Gulf Shrimp. Oh, man, those shrimp were perfectly cooked; bursting with flavor (and butter). But the steak -- man, the steak almost brought tears to my eyes, it was so good.

All they do is season it with a little salt and pepper and then cook it in loads of butter. You'd think a truly great steak would require more prep than that. My friend, it is not so. S&P&B is all you need.

We also shared four excellent sides: asparagus, creamed spinach, potatoes au gratin, and sauteed mushrooms. They were the perfect complement to our meal.

None of us are big drinkers, but we like to have just a taste of red wine with our steaks, so the restaurant split one glass four ways just for us. Now, that's accommodating!

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS RESTAURANT. If you live within driving distance of one, it would be a travesty for you to never try it. If you don't, I recommend that you go on vacation to a city that does have one and try it then.

Either way, if you're a steak-lover, Ruth's Chris is a "can't-miss" for you.
